Romania’s Space Rocket Crashed and Drowned

There will be no recorded pictures or videos from Romania’s first space mission, it was announced by ARCA – the Romanian Association for Cosmonautics and Aeronautics – as the rocket crashed in the Black Sea upon re-entry. The space vessel managed to climb at 40 kilometers and perform a sub-orbital flight, claim ARCA representatives.

According to them, the video and photo recording equipment stored in the rocket was completely destroyed, as the vessel plumetted into the sea at over 600 km/h. Romania’s first space ship, Helen 2, was propelled by a special engine, based on oxygenated water. A baloon took the rocket up to 14.000 metres and then the engines were fired.

Romania’s space effort aims to send an unmanned mission to the Moon, by 2015.
