Hunger Strike for Two Months in Romania

A Romanian primary school teacher has been refusing food for 50 days and is determined to keep protesting, despite her frail condition. Mrs. Cristina Irina Anghel, from Caracal, Romania, has declared hunger strike on August the 26th, as protest against the cuts in salary decided by the Romanian government, at the request of the IMF.

After a lot of pressure from her family, the fasting teacher has agreed that doctors give her intra-venous treatment, but not glucose. 400 teachers have already signed a petition that asks the protesting 51 years old teacher to give up the hunger strike and join other forms of protest.
