Denmark Plus Romania Equals Love

Or so it may seem, after pictures of the former Romanian Secretary of Foreign Affairs have appeared in a Romanian tabloid, showing him in the tender company of Her Highness Eleonore-Christine zu Schaumburg-Lippe, grand daughter of Prince Waldemar of Schaumburg-Lippe and great great granddaughter of Frederick VIII of Denmark.

The former head of the Romanian diplomacy didn’t deny, nor confirm any special relationship between him and the princess of Denmark. But he also mentioned that he is not bothered by any information that may appear in the media on this topic.

Her Highness Eleonore-Christine zu Schaumburg-Lippe is not in the line of succession for the throne of Denmark, but she is in line for the throne of Britain, as a descendent of George II of Great Britain, through his daughter Queen Louisa of Denmark and Norway.

Was Dan Bălan Drunk on Stage Last Night?

This was the question everyone was asking after a terrible live performance by Dan Bălan in the Capital city of his home country, Moldova, on the city’s celebration day. His voice was obviously taking a break, as the singer would stumble on stage – on feet, as well on lyrics.

The audience left the venue in disappointment, as the artist did not seem able to carry a single one of his songs right. So far, Dan Bălan has made no comment, but the mayor of Chişinău went on stage to congratulate him on a “world class performance”.

Russia To Surrender “Honourably” Transnistria

Sources within the Russian Foreign Office have confirmed for Nezavissimaya Gazeta that Russia is planning to surrender the break-away region of Transnistria to Moldova. The separatist self-proclaimed republic, where several thousand Russian troops are still stationed, will receive autonomy status, within the Republic of Moldova, from which it tried to break away with a blitz war, in 1992.

The same sources have confirmed the imminence of negotiations between Chişinău, Tiraspol, Moscow and Brussels, until a compromised is reached. Moldova will increase thus its chances at entering the European Union, completely undermined by the grey situation at its Eastern borders. It is unclear what Russia’s profit will be, as Moscow is also to withdraw its troops from the region. Romania will be in charge of disposing of the conventional weapons stockpile in Transnistria, yet unaccounted for officially, but estimated to be huge.

Police Bribe Ring at Romanian-Hungarian Border

For a wanted criminal, the bribe is 400 Euros to get across the border from Romania to Hungary – just over the Schengen Eastern frontier. Only 100 Euros for someone with expired documents. This has been revealed by an investigation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Romanian officers, who went undercover in order to expose an alleged Romanian-Hungarian criminal alliance between police officers and agents.

Investigators have discovered a network of drivers and police officers, that allows wanted criminals to flee the country for the equivalent of the average monthly pay in Romania. Officers approached the drivers, who acted as go-betweens for the corrupt police agents, telling them they had to flee the country.

Subsequently, they were instructed to go aboard lorries or mini-buses. Instead of papers, they would hand the driver the sum of 400 Euros and this would secure them safe passage across the border. According to investigators, the money would be taken by the Romanian police agents, who would then split them in half with their Hungarian counterparts.
