Meat Mafia: Sick or Dead Animals End Up as Steak

It is as revolting as it is disgusting, but Romania’s dead meat mafia has no limits when it comes to profit. An undercover investigation done by reporters from Antena 3 shows just how deep the matter goes.

They addressed several villagers, in a random village near Bucharest, asking for “cheaper meat”. They were immediately offered several sick animals and even a dead one.

Such transactions are carried out on a daily basis. Hundreds of dead or sick cows or pigs are being supplied to the meat black market. The meat is being sold in cheap stores or in roadside restaurants, as Romania’s traditional “mici” – spicy grilled meatballs.

People who eat such meat are in danger of contracting Salmonella or even Anthrax.
